Description

I took this badly-painted Nelly bicycle that was on the grounds of the old Norman Carrickmines castle, unearthed during the M50 motorway development around 20 years ago. Unfortunately, the state of the bike is symbolic of how our archeological heritage was trampled upon in the name of ‘progress’.  The German’s have a succinct name for such progress – Schlimmbesserung.
